Juan saw studying at LSBF as a great opportunity to develop his management skills and to become involved with the UK marketplace. Juan said: “The international exposure at LSBF was huge, not only the lecturers, but also my colleagues were completely international. The mix of cultures helped me to understand business as a global techno-structure and to establish international networking links.”

LSBF has boosted his professional career. The qualification he gained helped him secure a role as Marketing Manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for Burger King Corporation. Juan then went on to gain his current position; Senior Marketing Manager for Amazon UK.

Juan said that the most valuable thing he learnt at LSBF was the ability to manage different cultures, ideas and opinions.

 

What's your advice for new students?

Make the best of your experience, try to be involved as much as you can with all the external activities that the school offers you and always, always think big.

Christiaan Heemskerk, who graduated from LSBF in 2011 with a MSc in Marketing, used his knowledge of the most up-to-date theories in Digital Marketing to secure his current position as Business Acquisition Manager at Google European Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.

Studying at LSBF allowed Christiaan to study at one of the few universities in the UK that offers cutting-edge modules alongside a Masters degree. The course also ensured a large amount of practical implementation of course knowledge. The forward-looking nature of LSBF's Marketing MSc gave him the upper hand he needed to outdo his competitors in the job market and step into his new role.

What's your advice for new students?

Make sure that you enrol in courses and work experience that prove to future employers that you are proactively developing your skills. Have fun, be persistent and network. Do something to stand out from the crowd and be prepared with creative answers for interviews.

Alina Novikova is a Latvian BA International Business (BIB) student who graduated from LSBF in 2011. Having been coached in excellent business acumen and learning the importance of determination when reaching for your goals, she is now an Account Manager at TransPerfect.

Alina graduated in 2011 and shortly afterwards became an Account Manager for strategic clients in the life sciences division at TransPerfect. Studying business at LSBF gave her the skills and discipline required to succeed in a competitive work environment.

Rotimi Oke, a Nigerian Masters in International Business (MIB) student who graduated in 2011, has utilised the networking skills he developed while studying at LSBF to become Managing Director of Iretidu Limited, an investment holding company in Nigeria.

Rotimi became Managing Director of Iretidu Limited, a privately owned investment holding company with investments in a range of sectors covering IT to Real Estate. While at LSBF, he made the most of the wide range of career's support and maximised his time in such a diverse environment, making numerous contacts and pursuing business ideas.

“Before graduation I had the opportunity to undertake an internship at the African Development Bank in Tunisia, and then 4 months prior to graduation I became an Investment Analyst with Africapital Management Limited. After 9 months there, I am now the Managing Director of Iretidu Limited.

“I believe networking and establishing relationships plays a significant role in business. In my line of business, referrals continue to play a major role in securing business transactions. The networking skills that I learned at LSBF are vital in my work with fellow entrepreneurs as I seek out investment opportunities.”

What's your advice for new students?

Be prepared for as many scenarios in life as possible. Having an open mind is extremely important and the best opportunities tend to exist outside our comfort zones. Everyone should be ready to pack their bags in search of that job.

Amang came to London to study at LSBF, and graduated in 2013. She has gone on to use the skills she learnt to secure her current position as an Associate Consultant for technology and consulting corporation IBM.

Having already acquired a BSc in Marketing and Management, Amang Nouri decided to take an MSc in Marketing & Public Relations at LSBF, graduating in 2013.

She was attracted by the central London location of the campus and the combination of marketing and PR within one degree. Amang used the skills she had learnt throughout her studies at LSBF to secure her current position as an Associate Consultant for technology and consulting corporation IBM. She speaks particularly highly of the case studies and presentations used within her modules, stating that they helped her to develop and become more aware of her skills in marketing and PR. She also states that the degree has added value to her projects outside of university.

She hopes to use the skills she’s gained from studying with LSBF to go on to enter the world of Fashion PR in the future.
