Every year on March 8th, the world celebrates International Women's Day, a day dedicated to acknowledging the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
Today, we introduce Sylwia, a Publishing Manager at LSBF who has been with the company for nine years. Her journey began as a freelance graphic designer, and over time, she has transitioned into a Publishing Manager role. Her career trajectory has given her a unique perspective on the entire publishing process, spanning from design to production. Outside of work, she is passionate about baking and gardening—activities that allow her to express creativity and connect with nature.
Sylwia's journey serves as a testament to this year’s International Women's Day theme: "Inspire Inclusion."
Interviewer: What aspects of being a woman do you find most empowering, and how has this influenced your career?
Sylwia: The most empowering aspect of being a woman in the workplace, for me, is the ability to bring diverse perspectives to the table. Embracing my unique experiences as a woman has fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration throughout my career.
Interviewer: Who is a woman that has greatly influenced you, and how?
Sylwia: My career has been significantly influenced by my mother. Her dedication and leadership inspire me, and her insights have shaped my professional outlook and approach to challenges.
Interviewer: Thinking about your career journey, is there a specific example that demonstrates how the company culture is important for overall growth and work-life balance?
Sylwia: Thanks to our company's commitment to work-life balance, I've excelled professionally while enjoying my personal passion for landscape design. I've found many helpful courses on the Future Learn platform, I cannot recommend it enough!
Interviewer: What does International Women's Day mean to you? How do you ensure that you celebrate Women's Day not only today but throughout the year?
Sylwia: International Women's Day reminds us of the progress made towards gender equality and the work that still needs to be done. Throughout the year, I actively support women's initiatives that promote sisterhood and diversity.
Interviewer: As this year's International Women's Day theme centres around 'Inspire Inclusion', could you share any experiences or anecdotes that resonate with this theme?
Sylwia: As a foreigner living in London, this year's theme of 'Inspire Inclusion,' resonates with me personally. It's a reminder of the strength that comes from embracing different perspectives and backgrounds.
Sylwia's story is a testament to the power of inclusion and the importance of celebrating women's achievements every day. Her journey inspires us to embrace diversity, empower each other, and continue striving for a more equitable future.
