Research shows connection between training opportunities and job satisfaction

New research from training platform Course Library has shown a strong connection between training and development opportunities and job satisfaction.

The research, which surveyed 1,000 workers aged between 18 and 64 in the UK, found that almost half are happy in their current job.

Out of the 43.7 per cent of respondents who said that they are satisfied in their current job, 33.8 per cent said that this was because they were able to learn new skills, indicating a strong link between job satisfaction and learning opportunities.

The research showed that UK workers would also be willing to invest in regular training and development to enable them to have access to more career opportunities. Younger workers were found to be the most enthusiastic about training, with over 90 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds wanting to invest in training to boost their career.

Commenting on the research, Course Library Founder, Jazz Gandhum, said: “This latest research by Course Library demonstrates a strong correlation between training and development and job satisfaction, highlighting that those who are most happiest in their positions are those offered regular training by their employers.”

He added that one of the stats that he found to be the most telling is the high percentage of 18 to 24-year-olds who wish to invest in their future and their careers, stating that this comes at an interesting time, as the UK celebrates National Apprenticeship Week, and plans for the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy programme.
