Official Statement on the QAA Higher Education Review Report

London, 01 October 2015 – London School of Business and Finance notes the findings set out in the Higher Education Review (HER) report published today by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

The School welcomes the positive judgements related to the maintenance of academic standards and the quality of student learning opportunities for graduate and post graduate programmes. However, the school expresses disappointment at the findings related to its Higher National programmes though they largely confirm self-critical judgements reached by the school itself.

The School particularly welcomes the evidence of good practice identified within its Careers Services department. As described in the report, student employability has been a key focus over the years and the institution proactively seeks to embed employability and entrepreneurship skills into its programmes.

As regards action to be taken in response to QAA’s criticism of HND programmes, as announced on 25 September, following recommendations outlined in a Strategic Options Review report produced by independent expert advisors, LSBF UK will implement a phased withdrawal from future provision at HND level.

Meanwhile, the School has implemented improvement plans that will be pursued further and will continue to meet the high academic standards acknowledged by QAA and comply with best practice in delivering student services and learning outcomes.

The School will be responding in full to the QAA report within the required timescale.
