Report shows permanent placements increase in London

Report shows permanent placements increase in London

The number of permanent placements in London has increased at its fastest rate since May. This information was reported by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s Report on Jobs: London for October 2017.

The report also showed that the number of employed temporary/contract workers in London increased for the 15th successive month in October. The rate of growth increased at a faster rate from September.

Growth

The number of permanent placements and temporary billings increased across the rest of the UK, with the North of England seeing the highest growth.

More permanent and temporary workers are needed to fill roles, with the report showing a drop in the number of available candidates in London in October. There was a decrease in the number of available workers across the rest of the UK. The biggest drop in available candidates for permanent roles was in the South of England.

Salaries for permanent starters in London and the rest of the UK continued to increase last month, with the quickest rate of inflation being in the South of England. London also saw an increase in temporary pay rates last month.

Willing

Commenting on the report, Recruitment & Employment Confederation Chief Executive Kevin Green said: “Last month, recruiters helped even more people find permanent jobs – this is great news as it shows that employers are continuing to hire. However, the data also shows that growth is slowing down and one of the reasons is that we simply do not have enough people for all the roles that are out there at the moment. And the number of vacancies is still getting higher.”

He added that this is positive for jobseekers as employers are willing to pay better starting salaries to attract the best candidates.
