More employers offering flexible work to attract talented employees

Over 60 per cent of employers are now offering more flexible job roles in order to attract the best talent, according to research carried out by Totaljobs. Almost a quarter of the 4,000 British jobseekers and recruiters surveyed said that job flexibility is more important than salary and career opportunities.

Over 60 per cent of respondents said that the opportunity of working from home is crucial for job flexibility, whilst nearly half stated that job sharing offers more flexible working conditions.

However, salary was found to be the main factor that candidates consider when job hunting, with over 60 per cent saying that the rate of pay was the most important factor when it comes to choosing a new job. This was followed by career progression at 31 per cent and company benefits at 29 per cent.

Over 40 per cent of businesses surveyed stated that candidates are now more “picky” when it comes to accepting a job role, whilst 39 per cent said that the job market is now more candidate-led. This has led to more companies offering flexible job roles in order to attract talented candidates.

Totaljobs Group Sales Director, John Salt, commented on the new trend, stating: “As candidates become more selective, recruiters that differentiate their offering stand to benefit the most.”

He added: “Recruiters can do this through emphasising factors beyond the job itself such as company culture, the type of working environment and the business' approach to work-life balance.”
