LSEG report reveals most inspiring businesses in Britain

A report has revealed a list of locations with the most inspiring businesses in Britain.

The report, which was compiled by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), provides a list of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized businesses from a number of locations in the UK.

Companies from areas such as Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire made the list of “1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.”

Cambridgeshire had the most entries, with 16 companies from the area being selected. This was followed by Norfolk with 12 companies and Suffolk with nine companies. In total, 90 companies from the East of England made the list.

Opportunity

Over 75 per cent of companies that made the list are based outside of London. A variety of companies were selected, including a car sales company, an oil and gas services provider and a filtration specialist. Manufacturing, engineering and construction companies made up a quarter of the list.

Business secretary, Sajid Javid, commented on the 1,000 companies selected, stating that they are bringing “opportunity and prosperity to every corner of the UK” and that their success should be celebrated.

He added that the Government will continue to show its support for hard-working entrepreneurs.

Success

LSEG Chief Executive, Xavier Rolet, stated that high-growth SMEs are “the driving force behind the UK economy” and help to develop the skills, jobs and growth that the UK needs.

However, he added that ambition alone is “not enough” and that the success of high-growth SMEs must be highlighted and their growth should be properly supported with appropriate finance.
