Accounting one of top industries for pay increase, research shows

Research from UK job board CV-Library has shown that some of the UK’s key industries saw a significant increase in pay in June, with accounting making the list.

The study compared data from June 2018 with figures from the same period in 2017 and found that advertised salaries for new jobs increased by 1.2% across the UK.

The data shows that the UK job market is currently thriving, with businesses feeling confident and taking action to secure talented new workers.

Accountancy is among the industries where employers are offering competitive salaries, with pay in the sector rising by 2.3% year-on-year. Marketing and sales also made the list, with pay increasing by 8.3% and 4.9% respectively.

The research also showed that employers were active in terms of recruitment last month. Several of the UK’s key industries saw an increase in jobs, with vacancies in the UK rising by 5.9% year-on-year.

Despite employers actively recruiting and boosting salaries, the data showed that application rates have yet to keep up with the increase in demand for new talent.

Commenting on the data, CV-Library’s Founder and Managing Director Lee Biggins said that it is clear that businesses continued to be very active in their recruitment efforts in June.

“With June marking two years since the Brexit vote, it’s positive to see that businesses are still pulling out all the stops to secure talented new recruits and continue driving the economy forward,” he said.
