London tops world rankings for graduate recruitment

Data from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS ) shows that London is one of the world’s top cities for student recruitment.

New research from QS has shown that London has scored the maximum of 100 points in the category of employer activity in QS’ Best Student Cities 2015 report. The finding was based on global employers identifying the institutions they prefer to recruit from, indicating the strength and depth of the university sector.

London also tops the university rankings criteria, showing the high regard for London institutions

With so many businesses based in the capital, it’s also a highly promising location for work experience and internship opportunities. This is likely to contribute to the employability of the skilled professionals that graduate from the the city’s institutions.

London stands in third place overall on the global rankings of top student cities, rivalling current leader Paris. However, London still scores ten points above Paris on the category of student mix, demonstrating a much more diverse student body.

Other UK cities also score in the top 50 QS university rankings

Edinburgh and Manchester also gained prestigious top 50 rankings, with Coventry as a new entrant to the list. Other new entrants included Osaka in Japan and Pittsburgh in the US, but European universities are still out-performing other areas of the world.

While London is the only European city in the top ten, the continent has 20 cities on the list, compared to 12 North American destinations and nine from Asia. It’s clear that Europe is leading the way in terms of places to study.
