From Shock To Success: An LSBF Student's Journey With ACCA

When Muhammad Hussain Pandor first received the email, he couldn't believe it. "I was in some sort of a shock," he recalls, admitting he wasn't expecting the good news at all. This surprising achievement not only marked a major step in his academic career but also ignited his motivation. "This achievement has boosted my confidence and I believe in myself more than before," he says. 

The Power of Learning: Lectures, Feedback, and Practice 

Muhammad is a student from Malawi who is currently studying ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) at LSBF. Very recently, Muhammad received the tremendous news that he was ranked 1st in Malawi and 29th worldwide in his Financial Management (FM) paper.  

Muhammad's success didn't come by chance, however; it was the result of a disciplined approach to learning. He made it a point to attend all his lectures and truly understand the tutor. He credits LSBF's class notes and study hub for helping him "strengthen my knowledge," but highlights one key factor above all: feedback. "Constant feedback from the LSBF tutor during revision and practice made me learn from my mistakes and improve myself a lot more," he explains. 

Overcoming Failure and Finding a New Path 

Nor did Muhammad’s success occur without its stumbling blocks: every journey has its challenges, and for Muhammad, that came when he failed an applied skills exam. "I felt very dejected and lost confidence in myself," he admits. However, his family and tutor provided a crucial support system, encouraging him to try again. This setback became a turning point. "After this incident, I have performed really well in all my exams," he states, a testament to his resilience and newfound determination.

Muhammad is particularly grateful to his FM tutor, whom he describes as "very accommodating and encouraging." The tutor's ability to explain "complex topics" in a simple way was a game-changer. Muhammad emphasises that the revision sessions, focused on applying knowledge to exam-style questions, had an even larger impact than the tuition classes themselves.

The Road Ahead: Completing the ACCA Journey and Beyond 

Muhammad's journey is far from over. He is now focused on completing his remaining ACCA papers, with a target of finishing by March 2026. He acknowledges that the final three exams will be challenging but remains confident in his ability to succeed, thanks to the support he has received from LSBF. Looking even further ahead, Muhammad plans to continue his studies with LSBF to "complete my ACCA journey and maybe even consider obtaining a master’s degree too." He values the flexibility LSBF offers, allowing him to study at his own pace "without any sort of pressure."
