LSBF hosts masterclass on online gaming with renowned entrepreneur

As part of a series of lectures and masterclasses offered in partnership with global industry leaders, the London School of Business and Finance hosted on 5th December the seminar "An hour with Ruben Cortez", in which the Senior Director of European Operations of BioWare, Ruben Cortez, talked to students about business in the effervescent online video-gaming industry.

The event was held at LSBF's Marble Arch campus, where guests had, for one hour, the opportunity to share insights and trends with Mr Cortez, who has more than 16 years of experience in online video-gaming market.

Having in mind that the growing industry of online video-gaming creates thousands of jobs every year, with hundreds of new titles being launched for diverse platforms, LSBF students attended the event looking to learn more about the business.

International Business student Simon Hankammer said: "The event was a great opportunity to discover how the game industry actually works. Ruben amazed us with his great experience, combining business theory with the usual 'fun factor' of computer games."

Mr Cortez now manages the European Operations for Bioware Ireland, a company owned by the gaming giant Electronic Arts (EA). Under his leadership, BioWare has a growing global online infrastructure and is responsible for producing Star Wars: The Old Republic, the largest and most ambitious MMO game in history, which has been launched recently in December 2011.

"I found it really interesting to hear about the development of the new game and it was fantastic to see the trailer and some images of Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, what I found really inspiring was a quick chat I had with Ruben before his lecture", said Simon.
