Key ACCA Syllabus Changes explained

In order not to be confused by the multiple descriptions available on the ACCA changes, here, we provide the explanation provided by ACCA itself on the revised syllabus.

ACCA Levels & Subjects

The new structure will comprise three progressive levels, plus new employability modules to equip alumni for the workplace.

  • Knowledge Level – covering Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Business Law, and an . On completion of this level, you’ll gain a Higher Diploma
  • Expertise Level – tackling specialised subjects like Audit, Taxation, Financial Reporting and Performance Analytics. You’ll also complete the Digital Tech and Innovation Essential Employability Module. On completion of this level, you will receive an Advanced Diploma.
  • Strategic Professional Level – here you’ll take two core exams: one focusing on Business and Sustainability Reporting, the other on Strategic Business Leadership. You’ll also choose an options exam from Audit and Assurance, Corporate Finance, Performance and Insights, Taxation or Data Science. This level includes an Ethical Sustainable Leadership Essential Employability Module. Once you’ve completed this level, you’ll gain the ACCA qualification and become an ACCA affiliate.

If you have already started your ACCA journey, you will be guided through the transition process and awarded the equivalent paper under the redefined qualification based on what you have already completed. To maximise flexibility of their qualification, ACCA’s new exam system comprises modular exams to be taken in smaller and manageable sections to be taken over a period of time.

The first opportunity to sit exams under the Knowledge level is July 2027. For the Expertise and Strategic Professional levels, the first exam sitting will take place in September 2027.
