Over 100 new jobs to be created in the North East

Accenture has secured a £1.85 million grant from Let’s Grow North East to enable it to expand and create over 100 jobs in the region.

The professional services company has already increased its number of employees from 200 to 600 at its Newcastle Delivery centre over the past five years. Now, the company is planning to expand to a second office in Cobalt Business Park in North Tyneside and increase its number of employees to over 700.

The Let’s Grow programme, which provides funding for projects that will help to create jobs in specified regions, has enabled the company to employ over 100 people, including apprentices.

Commitment

Newcastle Delivery Centre Managing Director Mark Larsen said that the grant recognises the company’s commitment to creating more sustainable jobs in the region.

He added that it will “accelerate growth”, helping Accenture to create “the diverse and highly skilled technology workforce” that it needs and will help the company to provide “high value jobs” for local people who have struggled to find work.

North Tyneside Mayor Norma Redfearn said that the funding will provide further employment opportunities for locals and will help to boost the development of the technology sector in the North East.

Opportunities

Accenture has provided a number of opportunities for young people through events and apprenticeships. The Let’s Grow fund, which is run in partnership with the BE Group, will enable the company to offer more high skill opportunities for talented individuals in the region.

“Accenture is providing high skill opportunities for graduates and other talented people in the region, which will help reinforce the North East’s position within the UK knowledge economy,” said Simon Allen of BE group.
