North West businesses urged to attend exporting events

Businesses in the North West are being urged to attend events during Exporting is GREAT week, a programme that is part of the Exporting is GREAT campaign, which aims to inspire businesses to grow overseas.

A range of events is being organised by UKTI North West and its partners during the week, with over 300 delegates expected to participate across the UK.

There will also be events for potential exporters, which will be held by Chambers of Commerce in Cumbria, Liverpool and Manchester and the Federation of Small Businesses.

Support

Exporting is GREAT week aims to provide support to businesses at every stage of exporting, providing them with opportunities and enabling them to grow.

The five-year programme was first launched in Gateshead in November last year as part of a move to encourage 100,000 additional businesses to get exporting by 2020.

Businesses are provided with live export opportunities, which they can have access to on a new online platform. The Exporting is GREAT website will also be adding new opportunities for businesses every month.

Encouraging

UKTI Regional Director for the North West, Clive Drinkwater, is now encouraging businesses to get involved in the programme, describing exporting as “one of the most transformative things any business can do.”

"With help and support, the journey can be fun and profitable and throughout our region we’ve seen every type of North West business from craft breweries to machinery manufacturers take their first leap into exporting,” he said.

Exporting is GREAT week will run from 18^th to 22^nd April.
