Moneyfacts reveals best banks for students and graduates

Moneyfacts has revealed the best banks for students and graduates in its Current Account Star Ratings 2017.

Barclays, Lloyds, and TSB were among the banks rated highly, along with lesser-known names like Investec.

Assessment

The Moneyfacts Star Ratings is an annual assessment of the current account market, with banks being rated based on the features and benefits offered by their current accounts, compared against the market.

Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Bank, NatWest, and HSBC were all awarded five stars for their standard current accounts and packaged current accounts.

Investec received a five-star rating for its premium current account.

The rankings identified the best banks for students and graduates, with HSBC and Nationwide BS both receiving a five-star rating for their Student Bank Account and FlexStudent account respectively.

NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland were also awarded a five-star rating for their student accounts, while Santander earned a five-star rating for its 123 Student Current Account.

Among the banks that were found to offer the best graduate current accounts were First Trust Bank (NI), Nationwide BS, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, and Santander, which all received a five-star rating.

Important

Moneyfacts Insight Manager Samantha Owens commented: “The current focus on the personal banking market has highlighted how important it is for customers to shop around to find the most cost-efficient accounts.

With the vast number of options available, it can be confusing finding an account that has all the features needed for smooth day-to-day banking as well as the best rates and offers.”
