LSBF's New Flagship Campus Unveiled in London's Finance District
London, 25 February 2015 - Students, academics, corporate partners and business leaders today gathered in Tower Hill to join His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent as he opened a new campus in one of London’s most remarkable addresses. The campus will provide business and management courses for students of the London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) at the gateway to the City of London and Canary Wharf.
With a fully functional trading floor, classrooms and offices, the campus at Sceptre Court in Tower Hill will accommodate nearly 3,000 students, offering a wide range of courses including MBAs, Masters in Finance and Masters in Marketing. In addition to LSBF’s courses, the site’s location offers unique networking prospects to its students, who will be surrounded by some of the most prestigious names in business and finance.
As part of LSBF’s scholarship programme, every year ten students from Tower Hamlets will be offered a scholarship for a LSBF course, giving local high achievers the chance to change their lives through education. The campus also extends wider benefits to the area, providing employment opportunities for local residents and giving a new lease of life to the building, which has been vacant for over a year.
Prince Michael, who was joined by the Rt Hon. David Blunkett MP, former Secretary of State for Education and visiting lecturer at LSBF, also put his trading skills to the test at Sceptre Court’s new trading floor operated by LSBF's partner, the London Academy of Trading.
In his speech, HRH Prince Michael of Kent said: “We in Britain are part of a globalised economy where business success is often dependent on integrating with other international markets. That is why it is so important that we equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills to meet both local and international business challenges.”
Professor van Rooijen, Rector and CEO of the London School of Business and Finance (LSBF), says: “London’s reputation as an international business hub makes it a great classroom for business students. As well as expanding our operations in the capital, we’re also aiming to further support City employers with highly skilled talent. It has always been our goal to provide our students with not just the academic knowledge, but also with a range of work-integrated learning opportunities. Students and young professionals aiming to get access to top employers and career progression opportunities could not be in a better location.”globalised economy where business success is often dependent on integrating with other international markets. That is why it is so important that we equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills to meet both local and international business challenges."
Located opposite the Tower of London, with views over Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, The Shard and the London Eye, the new site will unite LSBF’s academic partners from around the world, providing students with the best of on-campus and online learning, access to employers, career and vocational training and all the resources they need in order to become work-ready. The site will also provide young self-starters with the technology, specialist consultancy and contacts necessary to get their start-ups off the ground.
LSBF secured planning permission for a change of use at Sceptre Court last year, which sees it replace 90,000 square feet of vacant office space with a hub for business and management courses.
The building is located at 40 Tower Hill, London, EC3N 4DX.
