LSBF Hosts Masterclass on Fashion Entrepreneurship and Luxury Management
Understanding the connection between creativity, management and brand development is the key to build a powerful business in the luxury and fashion industries, according to fashion entrepreneur and designer Marie Su. As the founder and creative director of luxury swimwear brand Sumarie, she was a guest speaker at LSBF, delivering a masterclass to an audience of students from the MSc in Fashion & Luxury Management programme.
“Every brand has its own needs and therefore its own strategy. When it comes to fashion and creative businesses, it is crucial that the strategy and the promotion have a strong connection with the people and the minds behind the creation”, she said.
With more than 12 years of experience in the Fashion Industry, she worked for brands such as Givenchy and Jean Paul Gaultier and established her own Couture Fashion House before launching Sumarie. “Vision plays a pivotal role in Fashion. It’s crucial to know what your business stands for, where it is and where it is heading to.”
The masterclass was part of a series of study trips and events, bringing together students from LSBF, the London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) and Grenoble Graduate School of Business (GGSB). The series enriches the MSc in Fashion & Luxury Management syllabus, an exclusive programme delivered in Grenoble (France) and London, under the academic partnership between LSBF, GGSB and LCCA
The networking and study trips also include visits to the headquarters of iconic British luxury brand Burberry and several other events and workshops. As part of the programme, students will also visit fashion hubs in Italy and France over the coming weeks.
Sagi Hartov, Dean and Director of LCCA, said: “This is an amazing experience not only for LCCA and LSBF students, but also for the entire group of students who came from France to network, learn and get insights from leading names of the Fashion industry.”
LSBF has a longstanding partnership with GGSB, having started in 2006 with the introduction of the MBA and MIB programmes. Some of the alumni who graduated from the GGSB courses delivered at LSBF now work for companies such as Google, HSBC, Nike and Citibank.
GGSB is a triple accredited institution, an honour shared by less than 1% of world's elite business schools which are accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and the Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) accreditations.
