Business pitch competition launched for female entrepreneurs in Scotland
A business pitch competition has been launched to give female entrepreneurs in Scotland the opportunity to secure angel investment.
Organised by Investing Women, and in its second year, the AccelerateHER competition is open to female entrepreneur-led businesses throughout Scotland and is the only pitch competition for women in the country.
Winners of the AccelerateHER scheme will have access to US and wider international market opportunities, enabling them to connect with financiers from across the world. They will also have the chance to work with angel investor Susan Preston.
Applications for the competition are open until 31st January, with those who meet the deadline being given the opportunity to submit a video pitch outlining their company’s growth plans, ambitions and investor potential.
Twelve entrants will be selected to pitch to a judging panel in February 2017, with the six most successful applicants then being chosen to give their final pitch at the Investing Women Ambition and Growth conference in Edinburgh on 9th March.
Entrants who register will have the opportunity to receive expert pitch advice, training and one-to-one mentoring.
Commenting on the awards, Investing Women Chief Executive Jackie Waring said: “We are delighted to be launching our second annual AccelerateHER Awards programme and would urge all aspiring female entrepreneurs to consider putting their businesses forward.
“The tremendous response we had for the inaugural 2016 awards, where we attracted an impressive 105 entrants, shows just how much dynamism and passion there is within Scotland’s female entrepreneurial community.”
