Fintech most popular sector among high-net-worth and professional investors
A study from private investment platform Capitama has shown that fintech is now the most popular sector when it comes to investment, with 70% of high-net-worth and professional investors looking to invest in fintech opportunities.
The research also showed that more than 65% of high-net-worth and professional investors are interested in software and technology deals.
Substantial increase
The study comes after figures released last year showed that there has been a substantial increase in investment in the UK’s financial technology sector, with investment from venture capitalists hitting £1.3bn. This was a rise of more than 150% from the previous year.
Capitama’s research also identified the most popular types of investment, with Managing Director and Co-Founder Brett de Bank stating that private investment is a thriving and growing trend.
The study looked at the nine different types of investment available on the company’s platform and found that growth funding is the most popular with the platform’s registered investors, with more than 80% interested in this type of funding.
Early-stage investments were also among the most popular types of investment – more than 70% of the platform’s investors looking to invest in this area.
Real value
Commenting on the study, Capitama’s CEO and Co-Founder Simon Ramery said: “Fintech is a sector that has seen huge growth in the past three years and evidence suggests it’s just the start. Our data shows that investors see real value in the companies operating in this space, and that they see a strong future for the UK fintech scene despite Brexit.”
