Barclays partners with Flux to trial instant digital receipts
Barclays has teamed up with London based fintech start-up Flux to trial itemised digital receipts to 10,000 of the bank’s customers.
The trial, which will be rolled out through the Barclays Launchpad app, will mark the first time that Flux has entered a ‘tier one bank partnership’.
Customers of the Barclays Launchpad app will be able to have access to new features when the trial is launched, including real-time receipts for all their purchases. If the trial is successful, Barclays will be making the features available to the bank’s five million app users.
Flux, which was founded in 2016 and is a graduate of Barclays’ Techstars-powered 2017 Accelerator, is also working with Barclaycard to deliver digital receipts to customers of banks that are enrolled into the start-up’s service.
The service enables merchants to issue digital payments to customers from participating banks through integrated point of sale devices. Among the companies that are currently enrolled into the service are challenger banks Monzo and Starling Bank. Barclaycard and Flux are also piloting the feature across all EAT stores and may roll it out to other retailers if the pilot is successful.
Flux Co-Founder and CEO Matty Cusden-Ross commented: “We believe that Flux is the next biggest innovation for retail payments since contactless. Nobody wants to keep track of hundreds of bits of paper in the 21st century. We are determined to digitalise the world’s receipts by linking to how customers pay anyway so we don’t change behaviour at checkout.”
