RBS opens business hub for budding entrepreneurs

The Royal Bank of Scotland has teamed up with Entrepreneurial Spark (ESpark) to open up a business hub for budding entrepreneurs at its headquarters.

The opening of the hub comes after it was announced that NatWest, which is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, has opened a hub in Manchester to provide help for fledgling companies.

Inspire

The hubs are part of a scheme that is being set up to provide business hatcheries for entrepreneurs throughout the UK.

A recent report from ESpark showed that over 80% of fledgling businesses and entrepreneurs who have been through the company’s programme are still in business.

ESpark Chief Executive Jim Duffy said: “Entrepreneurial Spark powered by RBS wants to be one of the top world-class business accelerators. Our vision is to inspire and enable positive social change through the action of entrepreneuring, creating jobs and value in the economy.”

He added that the opening of the Edinburgh hub in the headquarters of RBS is “incredible” and “a real statement from the bank and one they should be applauded for.”

Determined

RBS Chief Executive of Commercial and Private Banking Alison Rose described the location of the hatchery at the company’s headquarters as “exciting” and “symbolic”, stating that it is “fantastic” to see the programme being rolled out across the UK.

She added that the company is “determined to support entrepreneurs and the impact they make in driving the economy.”
