London remains top location for businesses, research shows

London remains top location for businesses

Demand for office space in London has remained at a high despite the Brexit vote, according to data from online property search website Hubble.

The data showed that London is still an attractive place to do business, with many SMEs searching for office space in the city towards the end of 2016 and at the beginning of 2017.

Figures

Hubble revealed traffic figures for searches for London, with searches for the city and its surrounding areas making up between 15 and 25 per cent of traffic on the company’s website.

Demand for space in London was particularly high among SMEs at the start of 2017, with over 3,000 searches taking place.

Earlier this month, Hubble also revealed this year’s up-and-coming areas in London, with the company predicting that Southwark, Barnet, Newham, and Brent will become top spots as a result of start-ups, freelancers, and larger businesses moving to co-working spaces.

Consistent

Hubble Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Tushar Agarwal said: “Our search data shows that despite the Brexit vote, the demand for office space among SMEs in London has stayed consistent, signalling the continued attractiveness of London as a place to do business.”

He added that the capital is as popular as ever, and that in recent years Hubble had noticed a diversifying mixture of occupiers in London. This included an increasing number of tech companies such as Amazon looking to acquire space there as they grow.
