Entrepreneurial Spark launches Newcastle small business hatchery

Entrepreneurial Spark has launched another UK hatchery and is now searching for start-ups and scale-ups for its Newcastle hatchery.

Over the next few months, the company will be signing up 80 small businesses for the programme, which will launch in August.

Facilities and opportunities

So far, the company has helped 660 businesses throughout the UK to create 1,816 jobs.

Businesses that participate in the programme will have access to facilities such as free office space and mentoring, as well as the opportunity to receive training and attend workshops. There will also be regular networking events and a chance to win part of £1 million in cash prizes.

In addition to searching for start-ups and scale-ups to take part in the programme, Entrepreneurial Spark is also looking for business mentors who can offer support to the company’s network of SMEs.

The company is also looking for businesses for several other UK-based hatcheries, including its Birmingham, Brighton and Bristol hatcheries.

Crucial support

Speaking about why the company has selected Newcastle for the launch of the hatchery, Entrepreneurial Spark founder and chief executive Jim Duffy said: “People considering setting up a business or at an early stage consistently tell us that support and advice is what they need most, and with small companies undoubtedly being the lifeblood of the economy and creating the majority of jobs, this support is crucial to cementing a balanced and sustainable recovery.

“That’s why we are rolling out our hatcheries to other hubs of business and entrepreneurialism in the UK, and we have chosen Newcastle as an excellent place to support ambitious small businesses.”
