UKBAA and Barclays to launch Angel Hubs in Birmingham
Investment body UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) has teamed up with Barclays to launch Angel Hubs in Birmingham.
The collaboration will host a pilot session for entrepreneurs in Barclays’ Eagle Lab in the city.
It is anticipated that this partnership will help Barclays to offer entrepreneurs an opportunity to work with a wide range of experts. They will be mentored and guided on funding and finding the appropriate space to cultivate their business ideas.
Barclays’ Eagle Lab Incubators will give high-growth entrepreneurs and organisations access to resources and the space required to succeed in a competitive business environment.
Barclays Head of High Growth and Entrepreneurs Richard Heggie said the company was aware that getting access to the right kind of funding was crucial for entrepreneurs and startups to grow and succeed. He added that the collaboration with UKBAA will help determined and motivated entrepreneurs.
Heggie also said that Barclays was happy to start the partnership in Birmingham, and anticipated that it would strengthen the angel investor community in the region.
UKBAA CEO Jenny Tooth said that the launch of their first Angel Hubs at Eagle Lab in Birmingham would help entrepreneurs connect with the angel community and offer an opportunity to existing and prospective angel investors to connect with other investors and build new syndicates.
The Birmingham Eagle Lab is scheduled for opening as part of Innovation Birmingham in April 2016.
