New business hub in Walsall to benefit entrepreneurs

New business hub in Walsall

A new business hub is set to open in Walsall, providing more opportunities for entrepreneurs, start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The 15,194 sq ft Citibase business centre will be located inside the Victorian Old Foundry, an historic building situated on Bath Street in the centre of the city.

Whilst the building has been refurbished to provide modern office space for up to 260 entrepreneurs in the local area, it has still kept some of its historic features, providing a unique setting for small and large businesses.

Business growth

Citibase chief executive Steve Jude described the hub as an “exciting time” for Walsall, with a great deal of investment taking place in the city, and the local authority offering grants and mentoring for businesses to promote business growth and competitiveness.

“Our incubator hub aims to provide a base for SMEs and entrepreneurs looking to take advantage of the investment in the area, and take their business to the next level,” he said.

Jude added that the city is undergoing “significant changes as it develops and progresses”, and that small businesses want office space that is affordable and flexible on short-term contracts.

The hub will be ideal for both start-ups and established businesses as it will provide them with flexible contracts rather than long-term leases.

In addition to office space, Citibase will also offer facilities such as meeting rooms, a reception area, on-site parking, personalised call handling and business support.

Councillor Adrian Andrew, Walsall Council deputy leader, described the investment taking place in the city as “great news” and thanked Citibase for having confidence in the city.

“It is another piece of the jigsaw regenerating our borough and supporting businesses and employees,” he said.
