Government launches new group for entrepreneurs

New group for entrepreneurs

The Government has launched a new group to provide more support for entrepreneurs and encourage more people to set up their own business.

Business Secretary Sajid Javid has created the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Entrepreneurship to help limited company contractors and small business owners resolve their business problems.

Stronger voice

Chaired by Alan Mak MP, the APPG for Entrepreneurship will enable entrepreneurs to have a stronger voice in parliament.

According to Mak, the Government will be making economic growth that is fuelled by innovation, exports, and a high standard of education a priority over the next few years.

The launch of the group comes after research from the Entrepreneurs Network, which is the APPG's new secretariat.

The study showed that over 80 per cent of self-employed people want lowered business taxes to be made a priority, whilst 78 per cent want the Government to take more action on cutting business regulations.

Ambition

Commenting on the launch of the APPG for Entrepreneurship, Javid said: “I want to make Britain the best place to start and grow a business by backing entrepreneurs to drive forward our economy. In an environment that encourages innovation and ideas, this government is championing ambition and creating jobs.”

He added that the group, which was launched on Monday, will “make sure the voice of entrepreneurs is heard loud and clear in parliament.”
