Finance training academy launched for small businesses
An accountancy company based in Aberdeen is launching a finance training academy for small businesses. Acumen Accountants & Advisors will be offering Sage One software for new clients, as well as training sessions at its premises on Riverside Drive.
According to recent statistics, over 1,300 start-ups have launched in Aberdeen over the past year. Acumen is now aiming to provide these businesses with the software and skills that they need in order to meet the financial demands of starting up a new small business.
Acumen Director and host of the new training academy, Lisa Bruce, said that the company has seen a “marked rise” in the number of people who have decided to “take the plunge” and start up a new business after being made redundant from a variety of sectors in the city.
She stated that this is also reflected in the fact that Aberdeen was ranked as the top city in the UK last year for start-up activity.
Discussing what the company will be offering start-up businesses, she said: “Setting up a new business is no mean feat in this climate, and so, to further support these start-ups we have decided to offer advice, support and accounting software, Sage One, for free as part of our training academies to help set them up for success.”
Acumen is Aberdeen’s only Sage One gold partner, which Bruce said allows the company to have access to resources that no other company provides in the area.
The training academy will help small businesses to learn the benefits of cloud-based accounting, enabling them to create quotes and invoices and develop an understanding of VAT returns.
The academy will be launched next week on Monday 14th March and training sessions will be free to attend.
