East Sussex County Council secures funding for growth hub

East Sussex County Council

East Sussex County Council has secured over £200,000 of government funding for the Business East Sussex growth hub for the next two years.

The hub, which was launched last year, provides support for companies that are at any stage of growth, including start-ups and companies that are aiming to expand.

Businesses can also receive help and support with financial problems and get access to advice, training and business networking events.

East Sussex County Council Lead Member for Economy Cllr Rupert Simmons spoke of the benefits of the hub, stating that it helps companies to find “all the information, advice and support” that they need in one place and that this helps them to “grow and flourish”, which not only benefits the company itself but also the county’s economy as a whole.

In addition to providing help for start-ups and later stage businesses, the hub also provides support for those who are looking to relocate to East Sussex.

Business East Sussex Manager, Ian Smallwood, commented on securing the funding, stating that it is “really great news” for ambitious companies in East Sussex.

He added that the hub has already helped over 250 businesses in the first ten months and that the funding will ensure that it can provide help for many more.

He urged people in the county who are experiencing business issues to get in touch with the Business East Sussex team, as they will be able to help.
