UK employers working together to provide digital apprenticeships

UK employers working together

Employers in the UK are working together to provide apprenticeships for young people under a new initiative called the Digital Apprenticeship Standards Steering Group.

The group has already collaborated over the past few years to develop digital and tech apprenticeships for areas such as digital marketing, data analytics, and software development as part of the Government’s Trailblazer scheme.

The group is open to all employers in England who have an interest in apprenticeship standards. It aims to make it easier for employers, training providers, and apprentices to understand digital apprenticeships.

It will provide an “occupational map” of digital apprenticeships that are available, currently in development, or planned in order to avoid confusion and duplication.

Specialist working groups will also receive support for developing new apprenticeship standards, such as handling formal submissions to the Institute for Apprenticeships.

IBM UK Graduate, Apprenticeship and Student Programme Manager Jenny Taylor will be chairing the Digital Apprenticeship Standards Steering Group.

She stated that apprenticeships have “enormous potential” to help develop the skills needed in digital roles across the UK economy.

“Employers from every sector will be working together through this group, to ensure that digital apprenticeship standards promote a worthwhile experience for both employer and apprentice,” she added.
