Data shows top ten UK cities for job growth

Data shows top ten UK cities

Data from CV-Library has revealed the top ten cities in the UK for job growth in the third quarter of 2017, with London featuring in the top three.

The survey compared the figures with data from the same period last year and found that the number of advertised vacancies increased by 12.2 per cent year-on-year, with several of the UK’s major cities seeing the biggest rise in jobs.

Portsmouth came top of the list for job growth in Q3 of 2017, with a rise of 35.9 per cent compared with last year.

Job vacancies in Brighton, London and Bristol increased by 33.3 per cent, 25.8 per cent and 22.5 per cent respectively.

Sheffield came in fifth place, with a rise of 22.2 per cent, followed by Aberdeen (20.6 per cent), Edinburgh (20.3 per cent), Leeds (14.7 per cent), Manchester (13.8 per cent) and Glasgow (12.5 per cent).

Despite current uncertainties, many observers have noted that the drive to increase recruitment in the previous quarter shows UK employers across the country are still optimistic and determined to grow.

Commenting on the data, CV-Library Founder and Managing Director Lee Biggins said: “These cities play an important part in our economy and it’s particularly great to see London back in the top ten.”
