Research reveals top signs of a fulfilling career

Research commissioned by Jardine Motors Group has revealed the top signs of a fulfilling career, with training opportunities, flexible working hours and regular promotions all making the list.

The research surveyed 1,700 workers to find out what today’s workers desire the most when it comes to their career, and found that the majority believe that looking forward to work is the top sign of a fulfilling career.

Opportunities

The research also found that workers believe that having people value their opinions and having flexible hours are top signs of a fulfilling career, with these both scoring highly on the list.

Having good friends in the workplace, a big salary and a fun work environment were also found to be highly valued, whilst workers also believe that managing their own workload and having good training opportunities are key indicators of a good career.

Other signs include regular promotions, working from home and being left in charge. Workers also believe that working in a company where everyone knows their name and being sent on management training courses make a career more desirable, whilst others value benefits such as paid trips abroad, a company car and a company phone.

More than half of respondents believe that they have a fulfilling career, whilst a fifth would not leave their job role for one that offers more money or better perks.

Empowered

Commenting on the study, Jardine Motors Group Group HR Director Clare Martin said: “This research shows career progression and feeling content and a success is about so much more. It’s about access to opportunities, feeling empowered and challenged, as well as having a flexible working environment.”
