Leighton Buzzard property firm to create 150 apprenticeships

Leighton Buzzard property firm

A company based in Leighton Buzzard is to create 150 apprenticeships to help young people develop a wide range of skills. Property firm Connells Group will be creating the apprenticeships as part of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, from 14th to 18th March.

The company first launched the Connells Group Apprenticeship Scheme in 2013 to provide young people aged 16 to 23 with the opportunity to develop the skills required to work in the residential property industry, such as business administration, HR, customer services and residential sales.

Incredible opportunity

In the three years that the scheme has been running, it has proven to be a success, with nearly 200 apprentices achieving qualifications and securing a full-time job with the company

Connells Group Chief Executive David Livesey stated that the scheme “signifies an incredible opportunity” for young people who are aiming to get into the property industry and for the company as an employer.

He added that apprentices are offered the coaching and training that they need to be “the best in the business”, as well as “excellent career progression.”

Great news

National Apprenticeship Service Director Sue Husband commented on Connells Group’s pledge to create 150 apprenticeships, stating that it is “great news” and that it is helping the National Apprenticeship service on its journey to three million apprenticeship starts by 2020.

She added that “good quality apprenticeships” offer a “fantastic way” for many young people to “earn as they learn”, whilst also providing employers with the skills that they need for their business.

“Our Pledge-o-meter has been designed to record the pledges employers make to take on apprentices and trainees, with commitments pledged from now until the end of National Apprenticeship Week 2016,” she said.
