REC brings together experts to prepare for jobs market challenges
The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) has launched a review that brings together leading employers, academics, and labour market experts to help recruiters and employers to prepare for challenges in the labour market.
The Future of Jobs commission will aim to provide insight to the new UK government about how demographic and technological changes will impact the UK labour market.
The commission will consist of a coalition of think-tanks, recruiters, leading employers and organisations such as Tech City UK, Adecco, Nesta, and the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).
The commission will look at a number of ideas and strategies for the UK labour market. Some of these include: informing and influencing public policy by building on the REC’s Manifesto for Jobs, exploring new and existing challenges in the jobs market, and focusing on skills and hiring strategies.
The REC will also be aiming to look at the future of the jobs market and how to create a future employment landscape that is suitable for all.
The Rt Hon Esther McVey MP, Chair of the REC Future of Jobs commission, stated that there has never been a more important time to take stock of what a future jobs market might mean for employees, employers, and policy makers.
She explained that as well as investigating important issues like demographic change and technology; they want to construct a clear view of what changes will mean in practice concerning the way organisations hire employees, and the way that people access the job market.
