Report shows demand for accounting

Accounting and finance skills are among the most sought-after with employers in the professional services sector, according to youth charity Ambition.

The charity’s latest market insights for the third quarter of 2017 showed growth in jobs across a number of areas within the sector, including legal finance vacancies, despite uncertainty in the market.

Boost

Senior recruitment also improved in the second quarter of 2017, with a boost in senior positions from top law firms in London.

The report also showed growth in business manager and pricing/commercial accounting manager vacancies, with skills such as an accountancy qualification and experience of presenting and communicating with partners required.

Despite uncertainty surrounding the general election, business support recruitment continues to be buoyant, with an increase in jobs from the end of the second quarter to the beginning of the third quarter.

Ambition’s report also showed growing demand for experienced PAs and EAs, while the trend of recruiting junior candidates that can develop within the company is expected to continue.

Upturn

The second quarter of 2017 saw an increase in recruitment for business development, marketing and communications professionals, while experienced business development professionals are in demand in the legal sector.

Sales talent continued to be in demand in the accountancy sector, and there was also an increase in client care-focused roles.

The report showed high demand for content and thought leadership roles at strategic and operational levels, while assistant and executive-level vacancies are becoming more frequent across the professional services sector.
