Barclays to create over 1,500 new jobs

Barclays Bank is to offer employment opportunities across the UK, with 1,750 IT roles set to be made available at the company’s services centre.

The majority of the job roles will be based in the North West, but the company will also be offering employment opportunities in London.

Tech roles

Barclays is going to be offering 560 new roles at the company’s Radbrook Hall delivery centre in Knutsford in Cheshire, and there will also be 100 new jobs in Northampton and 40 and 50 new jobs in Glasgow and London respectively.

The bank is also set to create an additional 1,000 new jobs over the next two years, with around 200 customer services roles to be made available in 2017.

Whilst Barclays did not specify what the job roles will be, the company’s Radbrook Hall delivery centre, which currently has around 3,200 staff, is home to its service delivery teams, technology office, technology quality and risk, global infrastructure and architecture and strategy.

Positive sign

In addition to announcing plans to take on new staff, Barclays also revealed in its latest figures that the company’s profits have more than doubled since last year, rising to £1.68 billion in the first quarter of this year.

The company’s new job roles are a positive sign for the banking sector, indicating that the cuts that have been experienced by the sector since the financial crisis in 2008 could be coming to an end.
