Over 100 apprenticeships to go online

Over 100 apprenticeships are to go online this week in Leicester as part of Apprenticeship Week. Apprenticeship Week starts today and will run until Friday 18th March.

In addition to apprenticeship vacancies being offered, young people in the area will also have the opportunity to attend drop-in sessions. The events, which are being organised by the Leicester Apprenticeship Hub, will also include access points for information.

The hub was set up by Leicester City Council to help more young people to become apprentices. The apprenticeships will go online today on, with assessments carried out on 24th March.


According to the Hub100 website, the events will give young people the chance to meet recruiters and employers and discuss why they are suitable for the job.

“There are 100 jobs and 100 guaranteed interviews,” the website states.

Young people will also have the chance to attend a drop-in apprenticeship fair, which will be held at JobCentre Plus in Wellington Street.

The events will cover a wide range of jobs, from veterinary nursing and agriculture work, to paint and body work technicians and service advisors. The Apprenticeship hub will also be holding a pre-assessment day on 18th March for those interested in apprenticeships with Volkswagen.

Great opportunities

Assistant City Mayor for Jobs and Skills Cllr Sue Waddington said that the events give young people the chance to find out more information about apprenticeships and whether an apprenticeship is the right path for them.

“Apprenticeships offer great opportunities to young people and we know that employers really value them, so we're pleased to support them through events like these,” she said.
