Trust and autonomy important to workplace happiness and productivity
New research from Peldon Rose has found that UK workers believe that trust and autonomy is important to being happy and productive in the workplace.
The research found that whilst 59 per cent of staff feel that they are most productive in the office, 33 per cent want to be more trusted with managing how and when they work.
The majority of respondents preferred working in the office: 50 per cent said that working outside of their workplace makes them feel disconnected, whilst 33 per cent felt isolated, lonely, or less motivated.
Providing facilities such as a coffee bar or gym were suggested to boost productivity and employee relationships. 66 per cent of the respondents said they would spend more time in the office if their employer offered these, with 17 per cent saying that they would work more than two hours extra each day.

“They also want a culture that fosters autonomy, allowing them to manage their own workflow and have the freedom to work where and when suits them.”
