Businesses optimistic about future after Brexit, according to survey
British businesses are feeling positive about their future, according to a survey from the Institute of Directors (IoD).
The IoD surveyed 34,000 businesses, questioning them on how they believe Brexit will affect their future, and found that 60 per cent of British businesses are “optimistic” or “very optimistic” about the upcoming year.
Optimism was found to be the highest it has been amongst UK businesses since the EU referendum, with 60 per cent of businesses expecting their revenue to increase in 2017, compared to 15 per cent who are expecting a drop.
The survey revealed the top concerns amongst businesses, with half of respondents stating that the UK’s current economic climate is affecting the growth of their business.
Businesses also revealed what action they would take to tackle barriers to growth.
IoD Director General Simon Walker commented: “Businesses are becoming used to uncertainty, and while some speculate on what our relationship with Europe might look like in the years to come, employers are getting on with the job of growing their businesses and delivering jobs for the UK.”
