Recruitment agency Morgan McKinley has found that the number of jobs in London’s finance sector has increased since the EU referendum.

The company’s London Employment Monitor showed an increase of 6 per cent year-on-year in November, indicating that employment in the City could remain strong.

Rises

The report showed that the number of professionals looking for employment also increased, rising by 16 per cent year-on-year.

Whilst there was a gradual decrease in jobs during the second half of the year, the decline was found to be less aggressive compared to the second half of 2015.

The company also discovered that employees working in key industries in the City would consider relocating abroad, particularly mainland Europe, to pursue professional job opportunities.

Positive

Morgan McKinley Financial Services Operations Director Hakan Enver said: “This is the first post-Brexit year-on-year increase in jobs that we have seen.

“Heading into the new year with a higher base of jobs compared to last year bodes well for City employment in 2017.”
