The London Experience
London is one of the world's great cities – and as a place to study, it can’t be bettered. Among the benefits on offer to students are unlimited resources to support your studies, career opportunities and a fascinating social life. London’s diversity, along with its supporting business infrastructure and trading links, makes this city a uniquely exciting place to prove yourself and pursue your ambitions.
Many students believe London is expensive, and are concerned about the cost of living and studying here. But this is a misconception – in reality, London can be a very cost-effective place.
There are special student discounts at restaurants, shops, cinemas, bars and clubs. Full-time students can also save 30% on buses and the Underground. There are over 200 museums and 8,000 acres of parkland in London, and most of them are free to visit.
The British Government welcomes international students, and allows them to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) to support their studies – and full-time during the holidays. Research shows that the majority of students in London are employed for an average of 18 hours a week, earning an average of £8.70 per hour. Students from within the European Economic Area (EEA) can work without permission.
Having completed their studies, London graduates start with a real advantage, as they have so many of the UK’s leading employers in law, finance, business, media and communications right on their doorstep.
Studying in London gives you a solid foundation for building your future and enhancing your career prospects, while establishing a worldwide network of friends and vital contacts.
