Roy Butcher

Roy Butcher
Academic Dean

Roy Butcher brings more than 30 years of experience in both academia and business to LSBF. As a business consultant, Roy has worked with both private and public sector organisations giving him unparalleled knowledge of conducting business in very different environments.

Career and Experience

Roy has been active in academia for more than three decades, both in senior management positions and lecturing roles. He has also developed and delivered educational and training programmes for clients in the UK and abroad. He has taught at postgraduate level and is also experienced in delivering professional level qualifications such as ACCA and CIMA.

Jon Kitto

Jon Kitto (DipM, MCIM, FIDM)
Programme Director

Jon Kitto epitomises our ethos of making theoretical and practical learning work hand in hand. He brings a wealth of hands-on knowledge and 15 years of teaching experience to the LSBF faculty.

Career and Experience

With a career in consulting that takes in London, Paris and Boston, Jon continues to work at Director level for a private web solution company and a social marketing agency based in Liverpool. He also finds time to run his own consultancy business specialising in direct marketing material and event management for clients worldwide. As a teacher one of John’s proudest moments was when his students from the University of Westminster won the Institute of Direct Marketing Award.

Jon is an active member of a number of well-known professional bodies. He is an elected member of the Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIDM), and was Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Kent Branch (CIM). He was also the youngest ever member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing National Council.

For Jon the most important aspect of teaching at LSBF is using innovative teaching methods to promote an understanding of the link between academic theory and practical application.

Mark Loon

Dr Mark Loon (DBA, MBA, Assoc CIPD, MIMC)
Lecturer

Mark Loon has worked with some of the most recognised multinationals in the world, specialising in the domains of HR and process transformation. Studying in both the USA and Australia and winning university awards in both countries, Mark holds an MBA in Finance and is a Doctor of Business Administration.

Career and Experience

During his many years of professional consulting experience Mark has worked on major projects with such high-profile firms as Ernst & Young, Cap Gemini, KPMG and Morgan Stanley.

A keen researcher in a range of areas including systems thinking, problem solving, leadership, learning, and personality, Mark brings a number of years of experience in academia to LSBF, drawing on his time with Central Queensland University and the University of Newcastle, Australia.

Mark has published papers in both the Journal of Managerial Psychology and the International Journal of Human Resources Development and Management.

Andrew Walker
Consultant / Associate Professor

Andrew James Walker brings 15 years of teaching knowledge to LSBF along with a Best Professor award in 2009 for the EIPM Executive MBA programme, and a wealth of international lecturing experience.

Career and Experience

Andrew has lectured in universities across the UK including the University of Northumbria and Sheffield Business School and has taught in institutions across Europe taking in France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Russia.

With six years of IT consultancy experience, including time with Deloitte Touche as well as working as a freelance consultant for the United Nations, the European Commission, and the Governments of Iran, Nepal and Bhutan, Andrew brings a broad and varied range of experience to LSBF. He specialises in managing major changes in organisational structures, services and resources and is passionate about helping students to develop these practical skills. For Andrew, the key to success as an LSBF student is "a critical perspective, confidence, and better practical skills for finding a satisfying career path".

Ben Botes
Lecturer

The youngest ever President of the European Coaching Institute, Ben Botes is an enthusiastic entrepreneur with two successful start-up businesses to his name and a keen involvement in investing in young enterprises in Southern Africa.

Career and Experience

Mark holds an MBA as well as a Master Coaching Certificate and specialises in the academic areas of Industrial Psychology, E-commerce, and Entrepreneurship. He brings seven years of lecturing experience to LSBF, having lectured previously at Middlesex University, and he is a published author, penning the book “Release Your Inner Entrepreneur” in 2007 (ISBN 978-1-84728-313-9).
For Ben, the most rewarding part of working at LSBF is the day-to-day challenge of getting students to realise the impact of their learning on the work environment. He is passionate about active student participation in class debates and discussions and the need to link theoretical principles to practical workplace skills.

Baluta Marong
Lecturer

Baluta Marong brings five years of retail management experience to the LSBF faculty as well as considerable lecturing experience. He holds the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualification at Postgraduate level and is a member of the Institute as well as a certified CIM Tutor for its new modules.

Career and Experience

An MBA holder, Baluta began lecturing at City of London College in January 2007 before moving on to London Academy for Higher Education (LAHE) and joining the LSBF faculty. Baluta is also currently working on a PhD programme looking at 'improving organisational performance through customer service'.

Dr John Paul Kawalek
Lecturer

Dr John Paul Kawalek lectures in Systems Theory, Change Management and Management Consultancy at the University of Sheffield in the UK. He supervises a number of doctoral students and he is also an associate Professor of the Grenoble Graduate School of Business in France, one of LSBF’s key academic partners.

Career and Experience

A published author, John has written more than 50 academic papers, and he devised the basis of the INSPIRE programme, a set of change management principles designed to help companies rationalise, optimise and develop performance improvements.

John has wide-ranging experience in different types of organisations, from large private sector organisations such as IBM, Lotus and Jaeger Group to the public sector working for the UK Department for International Development, as well as French government departments. He was a founding partner in an international US consulting company, and he is currently a Director of the Consultancy Academy.
