FAQ's for BIB

Is the company-based learning compulsory?

You aren't obliged to complete a full year's 1 work placement. You will however need to complete at least 6 weeks in order to progress on to your final year of study.

Is company-based learning a paid job?

You'll have the chance to choose your own work placement, and so you may be able to find a fully-paid work placement. Others may not be paid, although our dedicated Career and Corporate Division will work closely with you to secure a work placement that best suits your career goals. In addition to this, thanks to our partnership with Grand City Hotels & Resorts, we can offer you unlimited work placements in Germany.

Can students count part-time casual work as company-based learning?

Company based learning will still be assessed as part of this programme. It will however need to be structured, and the company will need to provide feedback on your performance and progress. The part-time work placement must also be relevant to your course of study, and in line with your own goals. Non EEA students will need to ensure that they comply with the conditions of your visa.

What about non-UK/EEA students and the UKBA rules?

As a non EEA student, you'll be entitled to spend up to 50% of your course duration in an assessed work placement. Our company-based learning is designed to be completed during a period of up to one year, and is compulsory to the programme. Non EAA students can therefore choose their own paid or unpaid placements under the conditions of their Visa.

  • Opportunity to devote up to 1 year to company-based learning, either in the form of a work placement or a full-time paid internship.
  • Encompassing a mandatory work placement at the end of year 2 of your degree.
