Preparing for LSBF…

  • Q. Can I transfer from my current undergraduate programme to an LSBF undergraduate programme? Read moreCollapse

    A. Transfer students can enroll in our programmes to begin classes at year 2 and year 3. Students enrolling in year 3 are required to have 120 ECTs or 240 CATS credits from their institution. Students enrolling in year 2 are required to have 60 ECTS / 120 CATS.

    For you to transfer to the LSBF course, we expect that your credits cover a comparable curriculum. Acceptance is dependant on the advice of the LSBF admission board.

  • Q. As an international student, what kind of support will I get at LSBF?Read moreCollapse

    A. At LSBF our international office is well-versed in the needs of overseas students. We're with you throughout the process and we offer assistance with admissions procedures, visa applications, accommodation and more.

  • Q. Do I have to be proficient in English to study at LSBF?Read moreCollapse

    A. Yes. To study an undergraduate programme at LSBF, you'll need to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. The minimum proficiency level to enter an undergraduate degree course is an IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent. If you don't have an English qualification you can undergo the International Foundation Programme with LSBF at IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.

  • Q. Do I need to get a visa before I travel to the UK?Read moreCollapse

    A. If you're an applicant from outside the European Economic Area (EAA) you'll need a visa to study in the UK. Please see our visa and immigration page or the UK Border Agency for more information.

  • Q. I already have a degree-level qualification. Is there an option to fast-track to year 3 of the Bachelor in International Business programme?Read moreCollapse

    A. Yes. It is possible to join the Bachelor in International Business programme (BIB) in year 3 for students who meet the requirements. Contact us to discuss the qualifications you need to go straight to year 3 entry.

  • Is the company-based learning compulsory?Read moreCollapse

    Yes. BIB students must complete a short internship as part of the requirements for completion of the programme.

  • Is company-based learning a paid job?Read moreCollapse

    Students are offered a choice in selecting the organisation and position they engage with as part of their company-based learning internship. Some may be in the form of a paid full-time job, others a paid or unpaid internship; while others may choose a shorter consultancy-like engagement.

  • Can students choose the position and organisation for the company-based learning?Read moreCollapse

    LSBF's Career and Corporate Division works with students in order to help them secure the opportunity most appropriate for them; however the ultimate choice is by the student. The position and company must be approved by the School as relevant and appropriate to student's course of study.

  • Can students count part-time casual work as company-based learning?Read moreCollapse

    Company based learning is an assessed part of the course of study. It must be structured, with the company able and willing to provide feedback about the student's performance and progress. It must also be appropriate in terms of the level and focus of the position to the student's course of study. Non-EEA students must also comply with the terms of their visa.

  • What about non-UK/EEA students and the UKBA rules?Read moreCollapse

    Non-EEA students are allowed to spend up to 50% of their course duration in an assessed work placement. LSBF's company-based learning takes place during a period of up to 12 weeks and is an assessed and compulsory part of the course. Non-EEA students are therefore free to choose between paid and unpaid opportunities within the conditions of their visa.

    A. Yes. At LSBF we attract students from more than 70 different countries, so you'll have the chance to network with students from all over the world.

  • Q. How much money do I need to cover living expenses?Read moreCollapse

    A. As a rough guide, you should allow at least £10,000 per calendar year to cover basics like accommodation, food and travel. However, this will vary depending on the type of accommodation.

  • Q. Do I have to pay for medical care?Read moreCollapse

    A. All full-time students studying in the UK for more than 6 months are covered by the NHS (National Health Service). This means you'll qualify for free treatment.

  • Q. Do I have to pay Council Tax?Read moreCollapse

    A. Full-time registered students are usually eligible for exemption from Council Tax, but they are not allowed to claim Council Tax Benefit, which is a public fund.

  • Q. Can I work in the UK while I'm a student?Read moreCollapse

    A. If you're from a country within the European Economic Area (EEA), you can work in the UK without permission. If you're from outside the EEA and you're studying on a course that lasts more than six months, you should be able to work up to 20 hours per week during term-time (full-time during vacations).
