Understanding Financial Statements (UFS) programme

This module aims to explain the conceptual and regulatory framework of accounting systems and how to control them by preparing participants to interpret accounts as well as calculate and understand fundamental ratios.

Understanding Financial Statements (UFS) – Course Contents:

  • Presentation of Financial Statements for a range of businesses such as Sole Traders, Partnerships, Limited Companies, and preparing Financial Statements from incomplete records
  • Book-keeping phase involved in recording business transactions
  • Familiarisation with the various steps involved in preparing financial statements
  • Interpretation of the Balance Sheet and Income Statements
  • Understanding of International Accounting Standards governing the accounting profession

This course is the cornerstone of a career in accounting and also stands as the perfect introduction to managers in other disciplines who need to be familiar with the fundamentals of management accounting.

We recommend that those with a particular desire to specialise in this function explore the more advanced techniques delivered in the Accounting for Performance & Control (APC) course.
