Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity (M&A) programme

As an introduction to the international field of corporate analysis and decision-making, this module pays particular attention to key aspects of mergers and acquisitions, such as valuation and feasibility.

Mergers will be analysed from a historical perspective, and in comparison with Anglo-Saxon business culture with that of practice in Japan and continental Europe.

Participants gain an expert perspective on short-termism and implications for long-term investments. The ability to identify synergies will be developed, along with a good overview of the corporate strategy process and tools of analysis.

While learning how to identify merger failure drivers, participants will make the most of this unique classroom experience in which each individual will be required to share their ideas and to work in groups on real life bid tactics to value a business and secure its acquisition.

Participants will develop the skills needed to succeed in Wholesale Banking, specifically in Investment Management and Corporate Finance divisions. The roles open to participants of this course will include highly demanding deal-making and technically specialised analyst posts in this highly remunerated area.

Students will also be introduced to an overview of the private equity industry, its pluses and minuses, and practical issues involved in leveraged buyouts, including management buyouts or buy-ins.
