How can I apply for the MBA in Financial Services Online?

Do I need references for my application?
Two references must be submitted, with preferably one being employment related and the other an academic one.

Is there a benefit to applying early? Do you employ rolling admissions?
Our admissions process is rolling, which means that we evaluate applications as they come in. Applying early means more places are available, which may improve your admission chances.
Is there a finite number of places on the programme?
Yes; although the programmes is delivered online, each student is supported with individual tutors, mentors, and dissertation supervisors, which means we have to limit the number of students in the programme and employ a competitive admissions process.

How ICT literate do I need to be?
A basic familiarity with using a computer along with word processing and internet applications are helpful skills to have. However, in terms of technical requirements, we recommend the following:
- A PC or Mac, with 10 hours unrestricted access per week.
- 56K modem with Internet access (broadband strongly recommended).
- A supported Internet browser (Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or higher or Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher).
- Occasional access to a webcam, microphone and a printer

Programme Structure
What is the overall time commitment for the Online MBA in Financial Services Programme?
There are four modules and a dissertation. Generally, one should expect to complete the programme in 18-24 months, including completion of the dissertation.
How many residential face-to-face days are there, if any?
There are no requirements for residency to the programme, as it is fully online.
What support is available throughout the programme?
There is plenty of support in this online programme, including support from your Programme Director, Module Leader and Tutor, Academic Mentor, Dissertation Supervisor and Programme Administrator. In addition, students benefit from institutional support from UEL in distance education and library services.
Are there any assessed activities or pieces of work?
Yes, typically, each module requires 2 pieces of assessed work and normally these are group work and an individual report, although the latter varies slightly. There are no examinations as part of the programme.
How will I write my exams?
There are no examinations as part of the programme, so don’t worry about commuting to any exam centres – all your assessed work will be submitted online.
Materials and online activities
How so I access the online forums and materials?
Upon successful registration, you will have full access to the LSBF InterActive platform features, including all study materials, forums, global classroom, Harvard Case Studies and Fifty Lessons.
Do I have to use the online facilities (can’t I just read the textbook and handbook)?
Yes, use of the online facilities is required as students benefit from additional online materials, quick access to library resources and interaction with peers in discussion forums.
Will the tutors be there to help me online?
Yes, module tutors and other support personnel will always be on hand to support your efforts, as we want you to be successful.
Can I use the materials afterwards in my job setting?
All instructional materials are copyrighted by LSBF, however, the knowledge you acquired can be put to good use in any way you feel it is appropriate.
Are there handbooks and textbooks?
Yes, each module tutor will provide access to a handbook which is covered by your module payment. There are is also a required textbook for each module which will be shipped to you free of charge.
Will I be able to interact with other students? How?
We believe that student interaction is paramount in business education and you will interact with your peers on a regular basis, using the LSBF InterActive forums and while completing group work on our global classroom.

The InterActive Global Leaders Scholarship provides eligible students with scholarships of up to £5,500.
How do I apply for the Global Leaders Scholarship?
The scholarship application forms part of the programme application form. However, academic and financial aid decisions are made separately.
Professional Development
What is the degree that will be awarded to me?
Upon successful completion of the entire programme and assuming there are no outstanding student debts, you will receive a Masters in Business Administration from the University of East London.
Who awards the degree?
The degree is awarded by the University of East London, a well-established UK university.
Will my degree refer to the online nature of the course? How will it differ from traditional MBAs?
The degree awarded is receive a Masters in Business Administration from the University of East London and is the same award as conferred on candidates who complete programme on-campus.
