Short Courses in Finance: Financial Markets, Trading and Analysis – FMTA 1 and FMTA 2

Financial Markets, Trading and Analysis with trading terminals is a ground breaking course, exclusive to LSBF. LSBF has its very own dedicated trading terminal room based at our London Holborn campus.

Trading Terminals are used by top investment banks, accountancy firms and blue-chip financial organisations to supply them with instant online financial information. Financial executives, traders and analysts use trading terminals for crucial decision making and financial strategy planning by maneuvering funds and sourcing information from the world's stock markets. Experience with trading terminals is a highly sought-after skill valued by all financial institutions, so students can benefit from an unrivalled competitive advantage in the global finance employment market.

The FMTA course focuses on providing students with foundation levels and practical skills necessary to understand financial markets and products.

Throughout this very interactive and dynamic course, students will learn how financial markets are structured and the risk implications of trading with different products. In the last phase of the course students will be exposed to trading terminals. This course is ideal for anyone seeking to understand financial market products and is particularly pertinent for accounts and financial professionals. No previous knowledge or experience is required to attend.

FMTA 1 – This course introduces financial markets in a global setting and will provide a strong understanding of the various products, their practical application and pricing. Students will also acquire an in depth knowledge of the current state of markets as well as gaining the necessary skills to read and understand the financial press.

Knowledge of different capital markets and its products is not necessary. Students are expected to have very limited practical experience, as this is not a course designed for experienced traders. Some revision on financial markets products will also be available during the FMTA2.

Students with previous knowledge of the different financial markets and their products will only need to apply to FMTA 2, which is specifically focused on trading terminals.

FMTA 2 – Students will be introduced to Bloomberg terminal functionality in a product specific context on a weekly basis (3 full day sessions on Fridays and Saturdays). Each session will incorporate guided self study time, with students encouraged to bring problems to class for investigation.

This is an incredibly practical course and during the FMTA 2 students will be using Bloomberg trading terminals throughout the duration of the course.

For more information on syllabus, application and timetable of both courses please look under Key Facts.

We also provide a Certificate in Trading and Analysis which combines FMTA 1 and FMTA 2. See the Certificate in Trading and Analysis page for more information.
