MSc in Mergers & Acquisition and Corporate Restructuring

The landscape of the financial sector is changing, with respected multinational institutions including Citigroup, Merrill Lynch and Barclays Capital all recent subjects of buyouts, mergers and corporate restructuring. Companies are actively seeking targets for mergers and acquisition, to cut down costs, create synergy, and strengthen their position in the market. Employees with specialised knowledge in this area are in greater demand than ever.

MSc in Mergers and Acquisition and Corporate Restructuring students will not only benefit from the academic knowledge in finance, but also practical training of the soft skills required to be a corporate manager in modules such as Business Strategy, Leadership, Change Management and Ethics. Students will be able to analyse the technical rationale driving a merger or acquisition and excel in strategic consulting.

MSc in Mergers and Acquisition and Corporate Restructuring students will receive the practical training to stand out in a number of finance tasks, including buy-outs, BIMBOs, spin-offs, unbundling, going private, and a range of corporate rescue arrangements requiring court approval. Students can expect to work in private equity firms, venture capital organisations, m&a departments and corporate rescue departments of international consulting firms, like Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Barclays Capital.

The programme is composed of 10 compulsory modules and a Management Dissertation to be completed in a period of 12 months on a full-time basis, or 24 months on a part-time basis.

•    Corporate Restructuring
•    Mergers and Acquisitions
•    Corporate Valuation
•    Strategic Negotiation
•    Business Strategy
•    Advanced Financial Modelling
•    Leadership, Change Management and Ethics


In the first semester, the programme will focus on general knowledge of corporate finance, financial accounting, quantitative method and business strategy.

The second semester will consider the specific mergers and acquisitions techniques in corporate restructuring and valuation.

This degree is also be available with the Certificate in Global Financial Management, LSBF’s new and innovative programme giving students practical experience in the worlds most pioneering financial markets.
