Career Direction
The MSc in Finance & Mergers and Acquisitions programme is a highly specialist degree programme that prepares students for high level strategic roles in multinational companies. Expertise in mergers and acquisitions is highly-sought after by modern employers and graduates will have a wide range of career opportunities open to them with the opportunity to significantly increase their earnings. The programme offers a blend of academic learning and practical skills that will translate easily into the workplace.
Graduates will typically enter the world of corporate finance and opportunities are available within all of the leading investment banks. M&A teams in investment banks advise client companies on mergers (where two companies join forces as equals), and acquisitions (where one firm takes over all or part of another).
The main role of a corporate investment banker is to advise companies, institutions and governments on how to achieve their financial goals and implement long and short term financial plans. Corporate investment bankers work in committed teams, focusing on precise transactions or market sectors. They also work alongside other related professionals such as lawyers and accountants.
