Global economic conditions in recent years have brought risk management to the forefront for companies all over the world and as a result, there is a sustained demand for graduates with experience in this field. Financial risk management is an indispensible strategy within both financial and non-financial institutions worldwide and this programme will prepare graduates for roles in both the private and public sectors.
The MSc in Finance & Risk Management is an innovative, specialist degree that gives students a fundamental grasp of an increasingly important area, and offers a blend of theoretical and practical learning, helping graduates to develop a highly sought after skill set.
LSBF graduates can apply for positions with a range of employers including the risk management departments of the leading investment banks, international insurance, reinsurance and major broking firms. Other options include management consulting firms and risk management departments in multinational companies.
There are high degrees of specialisation within this profession. LSBF graduates may work in sales, origination, trading, marketing, financial services or private banking, specialising in:
Credit: Credit risk specialists analyse the risk to the company of its customers not paying for goods or services or defaulting on loans.
Market: Market risk specialists analyse the risk that outside factors may have on share price or the market as a whole. They typically work closely with traders to calculate the risk associated with specific trading transactions.
Operational: Operational risk analysts look at the likelihood of risky events, such as system breakdowns and employee fraud.
Regulatory: Regulatory risk analysts look at the impact of new legislation.

- PTE 59 – (or equivalent)
- GMAT is not an obligatory requirement, but is considered an advantage and may be required for some applications. (Target score 550)
